Role Overview :
As a Senior Data Warehouse Administrator, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing the company's columnar data warehouse environment, integrating NoSQL databases, and overseeing Kubernetes orchestration.
You will play a crucial role in ensuring the performance, security, and scalability of the data infrastructure while collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
Responsibilities :
- Manage and optimize the columnar data warehouse environment, including resource pool configuration and subcluster administration.
- Administer user accounts, permissions, and security audits to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and prevent unauthorized access and data breaches.
- Integrate and manage NoSQL databases, including MongoDB cluster and replica set management, scaling, and sharding.
- Collaborate with DevOps teams to optimize database performance in a containerized environment using Kubernetes orchestration.
- Create documentation, provide user training, and raise awareness of best practices for database management and utilization.
- Perform performance tuning, backup, and recovery procedures to maintain data integrity and availability.
- Set up monitoring tools to track system health, resource utilization, and performance metrics, and establish proactive alerting mechanisms to address potential issues promptly.
Experience Required :
- 7+ years of work experience in database administration, with at least 2-3 years of relevant experience in columnar database technologies (e.g., Yellowbrick, Vertica, Snowflake, Redshift).
- Proven experience as a Database Administrator, focusing on columnar data warehousing, NoSQL databases, and Kubernetes.
- Strong SQL skills and expertise in query optimization.
- Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Cassandra, or Couchbase.
- Proficiency in Kubernetes orchestration and containerized deployment.
- Knowledge of resource pool configuration and subcluster management.
- Expertise in database security best practices and backup and recovery strategies.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex database and Kubernetes issues.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for effective cross-functional teamwork.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Hands-on working experience with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, Azure, or Private Cloud.
Nice-to-Haves :
- Relevant certifications (e.g. AWS Certified Database Specialty, MongoDB Certified Database Administrator, Kubernetes Certified Administrator) are advantageous.
