Duties
Incumbent is responsible for preparing shipping documents and for expediting customs clearance of all incoming and outgoing shipments of household and personal effects and other property of all U.S.
Incumbent will follow-up with protocol section for obtaining advance approval and obtaining duty exemption certificates for all domestic & international cargo arriving by air and sea.
- Incoming Shipments
- Prepares shipping documents, submits advance approval letter, and obtains duty exemption certificate from host government for clearance of all international shipments arriving by air and sea. This involves preparation of necessary documents for airlines and shipping liners and coordination for facilitating clearance through our clearing agent to clear shipments in time and avoid payment of demurrage. Reports to Shipping Assistant concerning damage in transit for preparing claims documentation for insurance company. Incumbent is responsible for supervising the loading, unloading, and placement of UAB, HHE, POV, consumables, and all official incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Arranges clearance of all domestic shipments. Coordinates with the respective agencies to ensure shipments are cleared in time.
- Prepares necessary outgoing documents such as shipping bills, forwarding notes and, Octroi forms for domestic & international movements. Coordinates with airlines, shipping liners, and customs to ensure that the shipment is dispatched in time.
- Assists Shipping Assistant in expediting VVIP arrivals and departures at Chennai, Karnataka and Kerala state airports and sea ports, including handling of U.S. Schedule Aircraft and ship visits. Also maintains contacts with the airlines, government agencies, customs, immigration, airport, shipping liners, and cargo agents.
- Serves as backup for Shipping Assistant and fellow customs expeditors.
Requirements:
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum two years of progressively responsible experience with customs clearance by air and sea or related admin experience.

Good Working Knowledge in English and Tamil - Speaking, Reading, and Writing.
