Responsibilities and Duties

  • Conducting experiments to study the effects of different chemicals on aquatic organisms
  • Developing new methods for water treatment or identifying new uses for existing methods
  • Conducting research on the environmental impact of new products or processes intended for use in the water industry
  • Analyzing water samples to detect contaminants such as bacteria, algae, minerals, pesticides, and metals
  • Performing tests to detect bacteria, algae, or other organisms in water samples using microscopes or spectrometers
  • Reviewing data from water quality tests and identifying trends or problems
  • Preparing reports about test results, identifying causes of problems, and making recommendations for corrective action
  • Conducting tests on water samples to determine chemical composition, pH levels, and other factors
  • Recommending ways to improve water quality and prevent contamination
