Job descriptionThe Dealer Accounting & Control team is responsible for ensuring the timeliness, accuracy and completeness of accounting transactions from the administration systems through to the General Ledger.

This includes cash controls monitoring, accounting and reporting related to the Dealer business.

The Financial Control Specialist will be responsible for ensuring that all work is complete and accurate, identifying and escalating any issues and offering alternatives for a solution.

The successful candidate should possess a natural willingness to support the team in the accomplishment of all objectives, strive to understand client's needs, create efficiencies and support innovation.

Preferred skills (Assets)Demonstrated accounting experience (reconciliation, audit, reporting, etc.)Experience in account reconciliationDemonstrated ability with a track record of leading/supporting process improvementMutual fund industry experienceFamiliar with Oracle/SAP general ledger systems (including Tableau and Frontier)

QualificationsGraduate in Finance/ accounting or equivalent experienceStrong Microsoft Excel skillsAbility to handle conflicting priorities and meet stringent deadlinesStrong communication and organizational skillsAbility to operate effectively as a team member as well as independently with limited supervisionSolid problem-solving skills, analytical skills and attention to accuracy and detailAdaptable, pro-active, and positive approach toward change

ResponsibilitiesTrust Accounting functions for the Dealer back officeReconciliation of various suspense and balance sheet accountsCompleting manual journal entriesMonitor daily accounting reports and error correctionsResearch discrepancies to reconcile all related bank accounts for the Dealer productsResponsible for money movement between various systems and bank accountsError tracking and trending to increase accuracy and create process improvementsBalancing accounting feeder files sent from the administration system to the General LedgerProvide consultation to business partners to ensure standard accounting practices are being followed so control issues do not occurEngage in process improvement to create efficienciesMaintain and create accounting procedures documentationProject or adhoc work as required

Notes/Unique requirementsOvertime will be required during peak periods (month-end and RRSP season)
