Within Azure Data, the databases team builds and maintains Microsoft's operational Database systems. The Azure PostgreSQL databases team is hiring Principal Software Engineer to be part of PostgreSQL Engine team. We are looking for a hands-on engineer with experience in database internals, building distributed database systems who is very hands-on and passionate about PostgreSQL.

Our team consists of opensource PostgreSQL committers and contributors. You will be working with a geographically distributed and diverse team. You will get a chance to work on cutting edge database features across the PostgreSQL eco-system spanning from low level I/O, Storage subsystem to user facing query improvements. You will get to work closely with PostgreSQL community consisting of developers and users from many parts of the world and organizations.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

· Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Math, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years experience in business analytics, data science, software development, data modeling or data engineering work

o OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Math, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 4+ year(s) experience in business analytics, data science, software development, or data engineering work

o OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications

· Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Math, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 12+ years experience in business analytics, data science, software development, data modeling or data engineering work
