About the Role:

Our mechanical engineering team conducts product research and development of intelligent appliances. As part of the team, you will be responsible for performing design and analysis to support the development of our products.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
  • At least 10 years of Mechanical Design experience in the Manufacturing Industry.
  • Full experience in product development from conceptualisation to mass production.
  • Must have proven track record in planning/architecting overall system and designing robust electro-mechanical systems
  • Knowledge of mechanical engineering design principles and practice.
  • Experience in designing complex mechanisms such as clutches, gear trains, cams, and linkages.
  • Selection of electro-mechanical components such as motors, power transmission and sensors.
  • Highly skilled in design conceptualization and analysis
  • Expertise in the design of plastic, sheet metal, gear design, die-cast parts, rubber, electro-mechanical & mechanism parts/assemblies
  • Adept in SolidWorks CAD software or/and FEA
  • Sound knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing
  • Knowledge of Design of Experiments and Six Sigma
  • Competence with analytical techniques such as Design for Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, Design for Assembly, Design for Manufacturing, and Pugh Matrix is desired.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Planning and developing overall system architecture and mechanical timeline for the project.
  • Define and deliver new technologies to be incorporated into products
  • Develop modular approach to hardware design and architecture
  • Analyze, select and implement product architectural design options
  • Own complex system designs or problems and make technical decisions for the team
  • Demonstrate leadership skill to influence and lead mechanical team during product development and issues resolution
  • Proactively assess the technical risks and resolve the design issues by providing reliable solutions
  • Ability to apply advanced mechanical engineering principles and theories to complex issues. Demonstrate broad knowledge in the mechanical design field.
  • Ensure quality is built into designs and driven through product development
  • Deliver project based on planned cost, schedule and quality
  • Develop test methodology, experimentation, prototype to verify design.
  • Work in close support of the marketing department in the analysis of customer need (VOC) and in the development of product specifications.
  • Work with manufacturing team to support injection molding, gear design, machining, sheet metal and assembly
  • Participate in other aspects of the product development such as : solving manufacturing issues, product performance, repair issues, product improvements, and value engineering
  • Work cross-functionally with internal team and other core disciplines (EE, Firmware, Software, Marketing)
  • Support in the implementation of the architecture tools and process to maximize the efficiency of the mechanical engineering team
  • Mentor and coach senior and junior engineers on project basis
