The SEO Team Lead is responsible for leading the SEO team in planning, implementing, and managing the SEO strategy to improve organic search rankings, drive traffic, and enhance visibility for websites. This role involves both strategic and hands-on SEO work, including keyword research, technical audits, content optimization, and performance tracking. The SEO Team Lead works closely with cross-functional teams including content, web development, and marketing to ensure SEO best practices are followed.

Key Responsibilities:

SEO Strategy and Planning:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive SEO strategies that align with the business objectives.
  • Perform regular keyword research and competitive analysis to identify opportunities for growth.
  • Plan and execute both on-page and off-page SEO activities to improve search engine rankings and organic traffic.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest SEO trends, algorithm changes, and industry updates to ensure best practices are applied.

Team Leadership and Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and guide a team of SEO specialists, providing direction and support on day-to-day SEO tasks.
  • Delegate tasks, manage workflows, and ensure the team meets project deadlines and performance goals.
  • Conduct regular training and development sessions for the SEO team to enhance their skills and knowledge.

Technical SEO:

  • Oversee and conduct technical SEO audits of websites, identifying issues related to crawling, indexing, and site performance.
  • Work closely with the development team to implement technical SEO fixes, including optimizing page load times, mobile-friendliness, structured data, and site architecture.
  • Ensure proper implementation of SEO tags, sitemaps, robots.txt, and canonical tags.

Content Optimization:

  • Collaborate with content creators and writers to optimize website content for search engines.
  • Provide recommendations for meta tags, headers, image optimization, internal linking, and other on-page SEO elements.
  • Ensure content is keyword-focused, aligned with search intent, and follows SEO guidelines.

Link Building and Off-Page SEO:

  • Develop and execute a strategic link-building plan to improve domain authority and drive high-quality backlinks.
  • Identify and build relationships with industry influencers, bloggers, and media outlets for guest posting and link opportunities.
  • Monitor and manage the backlink profile to ensure it remains healthy and free from spammy or harmful links.

Analytics and Reporting:

  • Monitor SEO performance metrics using tools such as Google Analytics, Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs, and others.
  • Track keyword rankings, organic traffic, conversion rates, and other KPIs, providing regular reports to management.
  • Analyze data to identify areas of improvement and opportunities for optimization, adjusting strategies accordingly.

Collaboration with Other Teams:

  • Work closely with the web development, content marketing, social media, and paid search teams to ensure SEO efforts are integrated across all marketing channels.
  • Provide SEO recommendations during website redesigns, new content creation, and marketing campaigns.
  • Coordinate with external agencies or freelancers when necessary for specific SEO tasks.

Compliance and Best Practices:

  • Ensure all SEO practices are ethical and follow search engine guidelines, avoiding black-hat tactics or shortcuts that could harm the website’s reputation.
  • Stay compliant with legal and regulatory requirements, such as privacy policies and GDPR, in the context of SEO.
