We are seeking a highly skilled developer to convert Oracle MICROS Simphony’s .NET extensibility to a new JavaScript extensibility framework. This role involves utilizing the Chromium V8 engine and a custom .NET bridge to expose .NET objects to JavaScript, bypassing Node.js. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in both .NET and JavaScript, with specific experience in V8-based projects and .NET interoperability libraries.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Convert Existing .NET APIs: Migrate .NET-based API functionalities to a JavaScript extensibility framework that interacts with the Oracle MICROS Simphony environment.
  • Bridge Development and Optimization: Use a .NET bridge to expose .NET objects to the Chromium V8 engine, ensuring smooth interoperability between .NET and JavaScript layers.
  • Code Management and Modularity: Write clean, modular JavaScript code that can seamlessly interact with .NET components, with an emphasis on performance and maintainability.
  • Debugging and Issue Resolution: Resolve compatibility issues between .NET and JavaScript within the V8 runtime, managing data type conversions and memory allocation.
  • Optimization: Monitor and optimize memory usage, garbage collection, and data flow between the .NET and JavaScript environments for performance efficiency.
  • Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Document the interoperability processes and assist .NET-focused team members in adapting to JavaScript-based extensibility.
Requirements:
  • Technical Expertise:
  • JavaScript (ES6+): Deep knowledge of JavaScript, including async programming, promises, and API integration.
  • .NET Development: Strong background in .NET with experience in building and managing APIs, ideally in the context of extensibility for POS or enterprise applications.
  • V8 Engine Experience: Hands-on experience with the Chromium V8 engine or similar JavaScript runtime environments.
  • .NET Interoperability: Experience with .NET interoperability libraries (e.g., P/Invoke, COM Interop) and bridging techniques to connect .NET and JavaScript.
  • Additional Skills:
  • Experience in creating JavaScript APIs that communicate with .NET backend components.
  • Familiarity with middleware patterns and architectural design for connecting JavaScript to .NET services.
  • Debugging skills in cross-runtime environments, especially with tools and practices suited for mixed .NET and V8 environments.
  • Knowledge of security best practices, particularly in data exchange between .NET and JavaScript.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience with Oracle MICROS Simphony or similar POS systems.
  • Familiarity with building V8-based applications or Chromium projects.
  • Background in embedded software development or browser-based JavaScript environments.
