Job Description: Disaster Management Project Lead


Position Overview:


We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Disaster Management Project Lead to oversee and coordinate all aspects of disaster response and recovery projects. This role requires expertise in emergency planning, risk mitigation, and resource allocation, along with strong leadership skills to manage teams and collaborate with stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing disaster management initiatives and ensuring community resilience.

Location: Maharashtra

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Disaster Management, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Certification in Emergency Management (e.g., FEMA, CEM) or equivalent is highly desirable.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 7–10 years in disaster management, emergency response, or related fields.
  • Proven experience in leading disaster response projects, managing crises, and mitigating risks.


Key Responsibilities:


Disaster Preparedness and Planning:

  • Develop and implement disaster management plans in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Identify and assess potential risks and vulnerabilities to mitigate their impact.
  • Establish contingency plans and evacuation protocols for communities and organizations.


Project Execution and Coordination:

  • Oversee disaster response operations, ensuring swift and efficient deployment of resources.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in planning and executing disaster recovery projects.
  • Ensure the timely delivery of critical support during and after emergencies.


Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Serve as the primary liaison between governmental bodies, NGOs, and community groups.
  • Coordinate with local authorities, emergency responders, and international agencies.
  • Build strong partnerships to enhance disaster resilience and recovery efforts.


Resource and Budget Management:

  • Manage project budgets, ensuring efficient utilization of financial and human resources.
  • Allocate resources based on project needs and priorities.


Risk and Issue Management:

  • Identify potential risks and implement mitigation measures proactively.
  • Address challenges and adapt plans to ensure smooth execution of disaster response projects.


Reporting and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and organizational policies.
  • Maintain detailed documentation and submit comprehensive reports to stakeholders.


Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities to enhance disaster management processes and strategies.
  • Implement best practices and lessons learned from previous disaster management initiatives.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in disaster management tools and software (e.g., GIS, early warning systems).
  • Strong knowledge of risk assessment frameworks and emergency response protocols.
