  1. Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform to automate the provisioning and management of VMware virtual infrastructure.
  2. Write and implement Terraform modules to provision VMware resources such as virtual machines, data stores, and networks.
  3. Automate the build and deployment of VMware environments, templates, and resources, ensuring consistency and efficiency.
  4. Integrate Terraform automation with VMware tools like vSphere, vCenter, and other VMWare related tools for provisioning, performance, capacity, and high availability.
  5. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Terraform workflows, VMware provisioning, and infrastructure.
  6. Strong knowledge of networking, storage, and security in virtualized environments.
  7. Collaborate with DevOps and IT teams to create efficient, scalable, and secure infrastructure solutions.
  8. Ensure the security, compliance, and best practices of virtual infrastructure.
  9. Maintain detailed documentation of Terraform configurations, processes, and system architectures.
  10. Provide mentoring and guidance to team members on Terraform, VMware provisioning, and automation best practices. Familiarity with cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or hybrid cloud setups.

Desirable skills

  1. Good understanding and utilization of cloud APIs for integration and automation.
  2. Strong understanding of data center infrastructure and cloud services.
  3. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  4. Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical teams.
  5. Knowledge of modern browsers and technical agility for adapting to new technologies.
  6. Familiarity with cloud services and platforms, especially those that integrate with


Soft Skills:


  1. Experience of working with agile practices and toolsets including JIRA and Confluence.
  2. Experience of knowledge transfer and mentoring of staff.
  3. Active listening, negotiation, problem solving.
  4. Passionate about technology and solving IT operations-focused problems.
  5. Experience and affinity working directly with people to improve their performance, develop skills and enhance practices.
  6. Keep up to date and have expertise on current tools, technologies and areas like cyber security and regulations pertaining to aspects like data privacy, consent, data residency etc. that are applicable
  7. Work with industry groups and vendors outside of HSBC to establish and maintain HSBC's involvement and influence.
