Purpose of the job

The Export Planner is responsible for planning and execution of export despatches to the global market. This job requires close co-ordination with teams from Sales, Logistics, production planning, Plant FGS, R&D and other functions in achieving targeted service and inventory level.


Major Responsibilities

  • Responsible for planning & execution of global export despatches
  • Compile demand/ Orders from export sales team
  • Work out net requirement for production planning & priority list for production
  • Timely release of monthly container plan (CP) & share with SCM logistics
  • Work out projected monthly container plan at SKU level & number of container loads based on month opening stock & daily production.
  • Release monthly container requirements to logistic team (With weekly split)
  • Timely release of short term container plan (STCP) for dispatch execution. Immediately when the stocks are ready & orders are commercially cleared
  • Update export dispatch tracker sheet daily (CP file) with stocks, update billing, commercial clearance status, stock movements etc.
  • Stock allocation for sales orders to maximise full container load. Co-ordinate with sales team in case of SKU change requirements if necessary
  • Coordinate with plant FGS & RDC for stock movements (Plant to RDC/ Stuffing location) & follow up to ensure stuffing is completed as per plan
  • Release stuffing instructions to FGS/RDC (Container specific stuffing plan)
  • Coordinate with SCM logistic team to ensure timely booking & placement of containers
  • Co-ordinate & Liaison with sales team.
  1. Communicate on dispatch plan/projections & trouble shooting
  2. Attend sales meetings & update status/ details about plan.
  3. Liquidation of downstream stocks (OE downstream, Other Surplus stocks, products crossed age limit etc). Co-ordinate, Follow up etc.
  • Prepare RCA & release for misses
  • Initiate/Take up Projects to bring in excellence in export planning


Internal & External Relationships

INTERNAL: Sales, Commercial, SCM planning & Logistic team, Plant PPC, Plant FGS, RDC, and other functions in order to make sure products to achieve maximum service.

EXTERNAL: Third party consultants and contractors – As per requirement.


Skills & Knowledge

  • RELEVANT EXPERIENCE:
  • 4 to 5 years of experience in Supply chain Planning preferably in a global setting
  • Knowledge of Ocean logistics
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other planning software.


EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS: Engineer, preferably Post graduate
