We help organizations protect their cloud assets and customer data by continuously evaluating the new threats and risks to their environment. Using advanced AI techniques, Averlon helps organizations in mitigating the high priority threats quickly so that their engineers can spend more time innovating and providing value to their customers.


You will have an opportunity to shape the product through your research. You will help the engineering team identify current and novel threats in a scalable fashion. 


About the team - We have several decades of experience working in the security industry, having worked on some of the most cutting edge security technology that helped protect millions of customers. We have built technologies from the ground up, partnered with Industry on innovation, and helped customers with some of the most stringent requirements. We leverage industry and academic experts and veterans for their unique insight. Security technology includes all facets of software engineering work from data analytics and visualization, AI/ML processing, highly distributed and available services with real time monitoring, integration with various other services, including protocol level work. You will be learning from some of the best engineering talent with multi-cloud expertise.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct in-depth security research and penetration testing on cloud environments, with a focus on Azure, to identify vulnerabilities and potential attack vectors.
  • Perform both application-level and infrastructure-level penetration testing to assess security posture.
  • Develop and maintain GOAT environments using IaC tools like Terraform/ CloudFormation/ARM to simulate various attack scenarios and research security flaws.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement security best practices for cloud environments.
  • Stay up to date with the latest security threats, vulnerabilities, and mitigation strategies specific to public cloud platforms.
  • Analyze security incidents and conduct post-mortem analyses to prevent future occurrences.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations on findings, including proof of concept (PoC) exploits and remediation strategies.
  • Mentor junior security researchers and provide guidance on cloud security best practices.


Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Expertise in Public Cloud Security: Strong knowledge of public cloud environments, with a focus on Microsoft Azure security architecture, services, and best practices.
  • Penetration Testing Experience: Proven experience in conducting penetration tests, vulnerability assessments, and red teaming exercises for both applications and infrastructure.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC) Proficiency: Proficiency in writing scripts and templates using Terraform and/or CloudFormation/ARM to simulate attacks in controlled environments.
  • Application and Infrastructure Security: Deep understanding of application security, web application firewalls, and infrastructure security concepts, including network, host, and database security.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of various penetration testing tools and frameworks (e.g., Burp Suite, Metasploit, OWASP ZAP, nmap).
  • Programming and Scripting Skills: Experience with scripting languages such as Python, or Bash for automation and exploitation.
  • Strong Analytical Skills: Ability to think like an attacker to anticipate, simulate, and mitigate security threats.
  • Effective Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.



Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certifications such as OSCP, OSCE, CEH, CISSP, or relevant cloud security certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate).
  • Experience with other cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) and multi-cloud security strategies.
  • Knowledge of DevSecOps practices and integrating security into CI/CD pipelines.
